Create a product for rent

Modified on Tue, 26 Sep, 2023 at 11:11 AM

Create a new product reference sheet for rental or purchase.

Whether for rental or second-hand purchase, all product references you want to feature on your website must have been described in product sheets from the catalog. This catalog is available on the tool known as OMS, and its URL is of the following format: https://nom-marque-admin.lizee.io

TABLE OF CONTENTS

The creation of a new product must be done in collaboration with your brand's project manager and after a specific training session to adhere to the established guidelines for your brand.

If you operate on the InStore model (where each store manages its own product inventory) and multiple stores may need to create the same product reference but with different rental prices, certain details need to be added; they will be indicated in italics in this article.

Prerequisites

Prior to creating the product listing, it is necessary to have already created the size category for this product.

See: Create a size category.

Product Page Creation

1. In the OMS, click on Products > Create (top right) > Configurable Product

2. Activate the product to make it appear on the website: Check 'Enabled' + Check 'Web Store Channels

3. Enter the Product Details such as:

  • Code: Enter the product code without spaces and accents! Please note, today this code is used in the product page URL, so ideally, it should represent the product and indicate it's for rent. Recommendations for product codes.

In the InStore model with different products between stores: Add your store's prefix at the beginning. For example: GRANVeloVille28Venus for Granville.

  • Size Category: If your product comes in multiple sizes, choose the appropriate size category for this product. You will find the selection of different sizes within the chosen category in the variant.
  • Name: Enter the product name as you want it to appear on the website. Example: City Bike 28" Venus Note: This title is also used as the meta title for the product page, so it's important to optimize it for SEO.
  • Slug: The product slug is the part that should appear at the end of the URL on the product page. It should be without spaces and accents! Example: city-bike-28-venus. Currently, however, it is not used, and the product code is used instead... so for SEO optimization, it's better to use a meaningful product code.
  • Description: The description appears on the product page, to the right of the photos. Tips: Provide as much detail as possible and avoid using the same wording as your traditional e-commerce site; this is not good for SEO. You can ask ChatGPT to adapt the product descriptions for rental, for example.
    • Add a contextual sentence. Example: Choose this comfortable bike for your regular urban commutes, equipped for safe transportation.
    • Include the technical specifications of the product. Example: Aluminum frame and steel fork / 21 speeds, Shimano Tourney trigger shifters.

Feel free to use bullet lists to highlight these technical specifications:

  • Include any other useful information, such as the deposit amount if applicable, and the model's height in the photo.

Example: Deposit Amount: €50

Optional: Add a downloadable element to the product description

  • Meta description: Add a meta description for the product, max 160 characters, to improve SEO. Typically, the product's nature is repeated at the beginning of the meta description, followed by a key selling point (e.g., waterproof, affordable, fast delivery, custom-made, etc.), and sometimes more enticing details for the customer: carefully delivered to your doorstep, in premium packaging, available now, etc. You can end with ellipses (...) to encourage the customer to learn more.

4. Click on 'Save Changes' at the bottom of the page.

Add product settings

1. Select the product category/categories in the Categories side tab.

Don't forget to set a primary category at the top of this tab, which is essential for us to analyze the data correctly.

Click on "Save Changes"

2. Add attributes by following this article: How to add an attribute and assign values to products to make filtering easier?

3. Add associated products that will appear below the product listing from the Associations side tab.

Click on "Save Changes"

4. Add product photos in the Media section: they should have the same format as the existing product photos. If other products have square photos, use square photos, and the same goes for portrait and landscape photos.

The photos should not exceed 3MB in size, and the recommended size is 1MB.

The system handles adding photos better when done gradually rather than all at once. If it encounters issues, try adding them in pairs, for example (or double-check their size).

Creating a product variant

1. Click on 'Manage Variants,' then 'Create.'

This step is mandatory to be done at least once for each product. (If a product has multiple sizes but the same product listing, you can create multiple variants).

2. Fill out the product variant information:

  • Name: Replicate the product name (not mandatory).
  • Code: Enter the same code as in the EAN field.
  • EAN: Click '+ Add' to reveal the field for entering an EAN. If the product has multiple EANs, repeat the process to add them all.

For InStore cases with different products between stores, add the first letters of your store before the EAN. The EAN is unique for each product listing. So, if two stores want to create their own version of the same product, you'll need to add a prefix to this EAN (and also include this same prefix when scanning unique products in the RMS). Example: 3601029950672

The EAN must be entered twice here, in both the 'Code' and 'EAN Code' fields.

  • Size: If you selected a size category when creating the product listing, you will see the various size values from that category here. Choose the size for the variant you are creating. If you don't have any options in the size dropdown in the variant, it means the size category at the product listing level is missing.
  • Price: Enter the daily rental price! You can enter the daily rental price of your choice (by default, it is in euros). Tips: On average, it is equal to 6% of the customer selling priceExample: 15

Note: Price tiering can be configured on the website and will automatically apply to the price set at this level.

  • Original Price: Enter the product's selling price, not mandatory, in €.

Example: 299.90

Click on 'Save Changes.'

  • Fitting Price: If the product can be tried on as part of a rental, check the 'Fitting enabled?' option and add a Fitting Price. This price is not dependent on the number of rental days; it is a flat fee.

3. Add VAT: In the Taxes tab of the variant, select the 'VAT 20%' rate.

Click on 'Save Changes'

It's done !

Just a reminder, in order to see this product on the website, you will need to add stock of this product in the RMS.
