To create a product for purchase alongside rental products or a consumable product necessary for the use of a rental product, follow these steps.
OMS (Sylius)
The creation of a product is done conventionally, as described in this article. The only difference is in the creation of the product variant, where you are asked to check the 'Purchase Only' box and specify a 'Purchase Price'.
You can then choose whether the products for purchase should appear in a separate product category that you can create, if they will be mixed with rental products in existing categories (be cautious of customer confusion), or if they will only be displayed as associated products with rental products. See how to associate products with a product listing.
Prismic
To display a 'buy' mention next to products for purchase and avoid user confusion, go to General > Config > 'display buyable mention' at the bottom of the page.
This mention will be present in the associated products of a product listing and also in the shop if the products for purchase are displayed there.
RMS
To add a product for purchase to the RMS stock and make it visible online, you should follow the same process as for a rental product:
- Attach a unique identification label to the product for purchase (yes, even for products for purchase, we use a PUID).
- Go to Stock > Add Unique Product, then scan the EAN of the product for purchase and its PUID, and complete the creation.
What happens when returning an order that included consumable products?
Consumable products do not appear as expected in the return order. Their status automatically changes to "Sold" as soon as the order is shipped.
