How to fill out the refit instructions template file

To better understand the data structure required for the refit process, you can start with this article: How to create instructions, instruction groups, and associate them with products for refurbishment.

This article explains how to fill out the refit instructions template file to import all instructions and assign them directly to products.

We recommend only filling out the "Product-Group Links" tab if you have a very large number of products; otherwise, it's more efficient to do it manually.

The template can typically be found in your shared drive or in Katalyz. If not, please feel free to request it from your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

Defining Product Groups

The first question to consider when creating refit instructions is: which products can be grouped together because they will go through the same steps to be refurbished?

If you have multiple steps (for example, a washing machine cycle), ask yourself if all the products can be added to the cycle at the same time or if there are additional rules. It's quite possible that you want to wash white products together and colored products together. In this case, you would have 2 groups for these products.

You can add the list of these groups in the "Product Groups" tab, without accents and spaces.

Defining Instructions and Associating Them with Groups

In the "To Fill - Refit Instructions" tab, add the structure of categories, subcategories, titles, and descriptions of the instructions in columns A, B, C, and D.

Then, fill out the following columns:

  • E: instruction_isAutonomous:
    • TRUE: Autonomous instruction (does not require human intervention) Example: drying
    • FALSE: Non-autonomous instruction (requires human intervention) Example: Extend the product for drying

  • F: instruction_isMandatory:
    • TRUE: Mandatory instruction (cannot be skipped) Example: check the condition
    • FALSE: Non-mandatory instruction (can be skipped) Example: if the product has stains, proceed with washing; otherwise, move on

  • G: instruction_scanOnly:
    • TRUE: Requires mandatory scanning to complete the instruction Example: fill the container
    • FALSE: No mandatory scanning, with a "Skip" button to proceed to the next step. Example: check the product's condition

  • H: instruction_isMultiple:
    • TRUE: Instruction allows processing multiple products simultaneously. Example: washing machine

Tip: Include a product loading step just before and a product unloading step just after (not multiple).

  • FALSE: Does not allow processing multiple products simultaneously. Example: check the condition of the item (must be done piece by piece)

  • I: instruction_estimatedDuration:
    • Estimated duration of the instruction: indicate in seconds. Example: 1 minute: write 60

  • Columns L, M, N, etc.: In each column, add the name of the product group that contains the instruction in question, add ":X" with X = the position of the instruction in the instruction sequence, starting from 1.

Associate the products with the groups

Finally, in the "Product-Group Links" tab, request your CSM to add the information you need in columns D, E, F, etc., so that you can associate each product with a product group.

Feel free to modify the validation rule to include more options in the dropdown list if you have defined more rules than what exists by default.
