What is a PUID?

Modified on Tue, 20 Jun, 2023 at 10:12 AM

By using the RMS, you must have come across the term PUID, which was created by Lizee.

It stands for Product Unique ID. It is a unique string of characters which is almost necessarily printed in the form of a barcode or QR code to be attached to a product.

The whole point with rental is to follow the lifecycle of each product very precisely. We want to know how many times each product has been rented, refitted, possibly repaired, before being purchased second-hand or declared defective. This is to improve our knowledge of this part of the circular economy, applied to your business.

This is why each product is uniquely labeled with a PUID.

Concretely, and unless Lizee manages the stock of your brand's products, you are free to choose the label format you want to display this PUID.

So far, Lizee has used heat-sealing solutions for resistant textiles, self-adhesive labels for non-textile products, and sewn labels for more fragile textiles. RFID chips have also been tested (so that you don't even have to find the label to be scanned in the product) as well as mini labels with only a QR code for baby textiles, for example.
