To interact with the RMS, you will need multiple devices in each of the stores/warehouses.
Think mobile: store or warehouse operators often need to travel, to pick up products in stock for example, so it will be more convenient for them to have a solution designed for mobile use.
This document has 2 parts:
- the minimum prerequisites
- the optimal prerequisites
for the use of the RMS and overall for the good performance of rental and second-hand operations.
The hardware prerequisites are not very restrictive as you can use RMS with just a device that has internet access, a web browser, a keyboard (physical or digital), and a printer. Then, your choice of equipment will depend on your needs, your budget and the efficiency you expect from the rental operations.
Similarly, for software prerequisites, it is possible to use mobile devices. Lizee has not tested the solution on devices dating before 2017. However, if you wish to use such a device, we still recommend using one of the latest versions of a web browser for security reasons and to avoid unexpected bugs.
Current Lizee clients and their developers use the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. The RMS should also work properly on Safari and Edge. Please do not hesitate to provide us with your feedback if you encounter any issues.
Minimum Requirements
For a limited usage of RMS, all you need is:
- A device (phone or computer) connected to the internet, running any operating system (and Bluetooth compatible if you plan to use a Bluetooth-connected scanner or printer).
For optimal usage, we recommend having at least Chrome/Chromium version 64 or Firefox version 60. As you may have guessed, having an even more recent version is even better. - A scanner connected to the aforementioned device that can simulate two actions: entering a code on the keyboard and pressing the "Enter" key. It is crucial that the device can perform these two actions; otherwise, you will need to manually press the "Enter" key on the keyboard after each scan.
- A printer connected to the aforementioned device (wireless if you have chosen a mobile device).
Optimal Requirements
For optimal usage of RMS, we recommend using:
- Mobile devices with built-in scanners or PDAs, allowing operators to move while having access to order information, for example.
You can use Android, iOS devices, phones, or tablets (always ensuring the latest version of a web browser). For example, in Lizee's warehouses, ZEBRA TC56DJ devices are used.
OR - Eyoyo-type scanners that can be attached to non-scanner-equipped devices, such as regular phones. The model we have tested and found to be responsive is provided as an example. You can choose another model as long as it is capable of converting barcode or QR code scanning into "keyboard input + Enter key press."
+A wireless printer connected via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to your mobile device.
